Love Movement Journal Reflection by Alice – Day 6

1 Corinthians 13:4

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud.”

Well I’ve had the not so wonderful privilege of battling the flu this week…..BUT it has given me lots of time to relax, recuperate and spend some time with God. With all the coughing and empty tissue boxes…it has definitely made me grateful for being healthy and not having a irritated throat. It’s always the things we use all the time that we take for granted. I will be so happy when this has gone away and I can talk normally and sing! I’ve missed singing a lot this past week.

So today’s journal actually fits so well with current events in my life. On the topic of money and being envious of others, I was recently challenged to give something up to raise money for a good cause. I decided to give up buying lunch when at work and out with my friends. I waste about $20 a week on Subway or McDonalds when I could just make a sandwich before I leave the house. There’s plenty of food at home…I’ve just been too lazy. So I’ve decided  to save up the money I would have spent on lunch and instead give it to this awesome cause called Lose to Win. It’s great. Not only will I save money, but it forces me to think about what I eat and to be healthier. I know tons of people my age do the same thing and it’s pretty foolish. We’re all trying to save money for university or to live, so why waste it on something you can just make at home? It’s only like an extra 5 minutes in the morning before I leave the house. I think I can handle that. Plus left overs from dinner make the perfect lunch! It’s definitely made me thankful for the fact that I have food at homeHeart sandwich. So I give thanks to God. It also makes me thankful for my Mum and all the times she made me lunch when I was younger! Growing up is about taking care of yourself. I challenge you to do the same. Take responsibility and thank God for what you have! Once you take care of yourself, you can take care of others and live out the wonderful love God has for us.
